当我看到这些照片时，第一反应那是些合成照片，就是用专业的太空望远镜拍摄再合成的，不可能是肉眼能见到的吧。但细看英国《新科学家》杂志网站的这些报道，又不得不让我相信在地球的某些地方，确实能用肉眼看见如此璀璨的银河景象。哇！想象得到我若亲眼目睹时，一定是嘴巴张得大大的，久久都合不上来。

文章也指出我们没有这样的眼福，是我们自己用灯光将天空污染了。从这方面看，古人比我们过得幸福。古人在哲学和艺术等方面表现出比现代人更高的智慧，可能也与此有关，譬如佛祖就因夜睹明星而开悟。

在沙漠拍摄壮观的银河系

The effects of light pollution are clear in these two images taken at a dark site in northern Iran's Alborz mountain range (top) and in the city of Tehran, just 65 kilometres away (bottom).

光污染剥夺现代人欣赏夜空美景机会

在大城市，光污染使人们丧失了欣赏夜空美景的机会。这张合成图清楚地显示了光污染的危害。上半部分照片是在伊朗北部一个没有光污染的山区拍摄的，璀璨的繁星在夜空熠熠生辉。而下半部分的照片是在德黑兰拍摄的，据上半部分照片拍摄地点仅65公里，却丝毫也欣赏不到美丽的星空。据了解，在没有光污染的偏远地点，肉眼可以轻易地看见4000多颗明亮的星星。
